Company history & philosophy

Jean-Claude Patrice, businessman involved in the community to this day, went into business in 1982. It’s in a store on Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts’s main street that he acquired his first experiences in the field of furniture and mattresses.

Experienced and with knowledge, Jean-Claude opened in April 1994 a small shop on Highway 117 at the end of the same village, where he still sales mattresses of all kinds. The location was then selected with strategy allowing the shop to grow when time would come to do so. The specialized in mattress store Au Marché du Lit was then born.

Janie, Jean-Claude’s daughter, still young but already visionary, spent a lot of time with her father in the business. Clearly interested in people, customer service and products, she begins to learn the business talk while continuing her studies.It’s in year 2000 that Janie Patrice officially gets involve in her father’s project and this alliance gives a major kick-off to the company. Always eager to offer a greater quantity of products and better professional customer service, Jean-Claude and Janie decide in 2001 to expand by doubling the floor area. That done, a bedding department, another for pillows and one to showcase fabrics are then on set, in addition to expand the specialized mattresses demonstration section.

The team skills are strong and success comes quick. Au Marché Du Lit soon becomes the reference in the mattresses field. The family business stands besides large super stores with its specialized and of quality products, speed of delivery, professional service and friendly welcome, and highly committed staff. The company received, from the business community, several awards of recognition both for the quality of its products and expertise, and its impressive customer service.

In a logical expansion continuum, Jean-Claude’s experience and confidence mixed with Janie’s visionary entrepreneurship lead the company to specifically target customers. It's then in the summer of 2011 that Au Marché Du Lit conducts another major investment. Indeed, the store gets a larger sales area, renews its delivery equipment and double its storage capacity.

Involved to the maximum and always before her time, Janie Patrice incorporates in the company a more responsible and greener ecological vision. A biological section including mattresses, pillows and organic bedding is enhanced. The expansion is mainly dedicated to this new section and customers can finally benefit from a wide range of organic mattresses and the most advanced technologies in the field.

In 2012, the company is transmitted from the father's hands to his daughter’s which, after 18 years of experience, Janie proudly takes over and continues on the same path to always offer excellence.
